Our Process

Custom Jewelry Process Made Simple

Our Hand-crafted Jewelry Process

A small, faceted, brownish-orange gemstone on a reflective surface.

1. Gemstone Selection

We begin by helping you choose a gemstone from our collection or use one you brought.

Sketch drawings of various chair designs and perspectives on white paper.

2. Sketching Out A Design

After choosing a gem, we create original sketches based on our discussions.

A chunky, yellow, plastic ring with a large, square, faceted amber-colored gemstone set at the front.

3. Wax Model

We develop a 3-D model from the sketched design for approval to craft your unique piece.

A silver necklace with a large, square, amber-colored gemstone and a decorative, patterned metal piece.

4. Finished Piece

After your approval, we create your custom-designed piece from the 3-D wax model, making it ready to wear!

  • You captured the heart and soul of what I envisioned for my new wedding ring and now you applied that to my pendant. Thank you for helping to make my "milestone" birthday special.

  • The piece went over BIG TIME with mom! So many, many thanks to you and Emily. No kidding, she opened it, the tears started to well up, I asked her if she knew what it was, and she said, "Irogami."

    The Heffel Families

A collection of various colorful gemstones, including pink, blue, green, orange, purple, and yellow, in different shapes and sizes arranged on a gray surface.

We are in a business where all of our products (except those from outer space) come from the Earth, and the jewelry industry, in particular, relies heavily upon mining companies to generate source materials for their products.

The sad fact is the production of one beautiful gold ring could generate five tons of environmental waste, contaminating water and lands which endangers the health and lives of humans and animals. The negative impacts of mining have forced people and businesses alike to take a long, hard look at where their products come from, how they are made, and to what extent they are impacting the earth, its lands and its people.

Here at Art Metals Studio, we feel it is our responsibility to protect the earth and its inhabitants and rely strongly on the Harmony SCS Certified Recycled Precious Metals available from our refiner. Also, we can often bypass both the miners and refiners by recycling your jewelry and creating new pieces using your metals and gemstones!
